Sir,

In reply to your Despatch No. 150 of the 23rd May last, relative to the financial position of the Colony and other points in connection with the Estimates for the current year, I have the honour to submit the following remarks for your consideration.

The drafts for Subsidiary Coin under execution and other expenditure by the Crown Agents were paid as follows:-

15th February, 1902 .................... $132,000

9th May, 1902 ............................ 340,000

17th May, 1902 ............................ 520,000

23rd May, 1902 ............................ 200,000

20th June, 1902 ............................ 830,000

$2,022,000

The Subsidiary Coin, with the exception of all consignments of Twenty Cent Pieces ($50,000) and Fifty Cent Pieces ($50,000) and $34,000 worth of Bronze Coin which arrived here on the 3rd instant, has been ordered with a view to its arrival in Hongkong on the following dates:-

19th July, 1902 ............................ $300,000

2nd August, 1902 ............................ 300,000

16th August, 1902 ............................ 300,000

30th August, 1902 ............................ 300,000

13th September, 1902 ............................ 300,000

27th September, 1902 ............................ 300,000

$1,800,000

Altogether $150,000 Bronze Coin was ordered by letter dated
